Over two decades ago, when I made the decision to move from Pennsylvania to Idaho, I did so for three primary reasons: Hunting, Fishing and Freedom.
As this is written in the summer of 2009, Idaho’s fishing and freedom has diminished but slightly since I first set up camp in the rugged mountains of West-Central Idaho. However, the overall hunting scene has changed dramatically for the worse!!! The significant and undeniable decline of the Mule deer and Elk herds is due to a myriad of factors. However, the introduction of non-native wolves in the early ‘90’s is undoubtedly the major factor in the decimation of Idaho’s big game herds. (The unchecked eagles, lions, bears and coyotes haven’t helped matters either.)
Consequently, my wife and I are currently seeking new hunting horizons. I would be happy to trade one of my ultra-accurate rifles for new hunting opportunities; preferably on private ground in wolf-free states!
As you can see by our photos, my wife and I are hard core, extreme, back-country hunters. Therefore, we have no need of fancy lodges, outfitters or guides. All we are looking for is access to game rich hunting fields.
